\u201cRick\u201d Perez oversees a portfolio of Sundance Institute strategic partnerships focused on the convergence of nonfiction filmmaking, innovative thought leadership, and themes vital to contemporary societies. These initiatives include Stories of Change, a Sundance Institute partnership with the Skoll Foundation; Sundance Institute TED Prize Filmmaker Award; and the annual Sundance Institute | CNEX (China Next) Documentary Story and Edit Lab in Beijing, a program to develop and advance independent nonfiction filmmaking in China. Mr. Perez is also a senior reviewer for the Sundance Documentary Film Fund; frequently participates as a speaker, panelist and moderator at international events focusing on non-fiction filmmaking; and leads workshops on documentary storytelling.<\/p>\n

In addition to his work at Sundance Institute, Mr. Perez directed and executive produced the feature documentary, Cesar\u2019s Last Fast, a film that premiered in US competition at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival, and is currently executive producing the feature documentary Cassandro, Queen of the Ring, a film about trailblazing Mexican wrestler \u201cCassandro El Exotico\u201d.<\/p>\n
