China Central Television, commonly abbreviated as CCTV, is the predominant state television broadcaster, and one of the most influential mainstream media agencies in China. At present, CCTV has a network of 21 open channels, 2 HD channels, 20-odd digital pay-TV channels, and 28 network television channels. According to the statistics in 2005, CCTV covered 95.9% of the total Chinese population, that is, more than 1.188 billion audiences.
